Creating the best environment to improve trade in Brazil
On 8th December 2016, Sage Brazil and Latin America CEO Jorge Santos Carneiro welcomed businesses, government officials and journalists to the British Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BRITCHAM) in Brazil to celebrate its 100 year anniversary in Sao Paulo. Jorge Santos Carneiro, who also serves at National President of BRITCHAM led a discussion on priorities for economic and commercial relations between Brazil and the United Kingdom.
Guest speakers at the event included Thomas Zanotto, Director of International Relations and Foreign Trade Department for FIESP (Federation of Industries of the State of Sao Paulo) who provided an outlook of the Brazilian industry under the new UK-Brazil scenario and Gilberto Giusti, current council member and former BRITCHAM president. Liam Fox, UK Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade, alongside Alex Ellis, British Ambassador to Brazil, talked to businesses about future opportunities.
In his speech, Jorge Santos Carneiro discussed reducing barriers to international commerce and investments (with a special focus on a taxation agreement between both countries); corporate responsibility; sustainable entrepreneurship; and the importance of innovation and technological development.
