Joburg Theatre sets the stage with Sage 300 People

30 November 2017

The Joburg Theatre Complex, previously known as the Johannesburg Civic Theatre, is implementing the Sage 300 People payroll, human resources (HR) and employee self-service (ESS) solution to improve compliance and enhance its employee experience. The organisation, owned by the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, employs around 400 people.

The organisation is rolling out Sage 300 People as part of its drive to automate HR processes and to comply with Municipal Standard Chart of Accounts (mSCOA), a set of financial reporting standards from the South African National Treasury. It chose Sage 300 as an integrated solution offering payroll, HR and ESS in a single platform, and also because of its tight integration with the Sage Pastel Evolution financial software in use at Joburg Theatre.

Says Solomon Mphakathi, CFO at Joburg Theatre: “The new solution will help improve collaboration and cooperation between the payroll team in the financial department and the HR teams. It will also fast-track our efforts to become fully mSCOA compliant. As importantly, Sage 300 will help us elevate the employee value proposition and experience by giving our people the ability to submit leave transactions, claims and personal detail changes online as well as retrieve their payslips and IRP5s at their convenience.”

Viresh Harduth, Vice President: New Customer Acquisition (Start up and Small Business) at Sage Africa & Middle East, adds: “We’re excited to work with Joburg Theatre to automate and transform its HR processes. With a single HR, payroll and ESS system, the organisation will be able to vastly reduce manual work, freeing up time for its HR team to focus on the strategic imperatives of attracting talent and improving organisational performance.”
