2020 Updates

11 May 2020

Sage Micropay v8.2 SP1 B2

This is a mandatory upgrade if you are claiming JobKeeper payments.

What's in this release?

  • A new IQ report IQ-JK_TopUP to help you determine if employee earnings in a pay period or periods are sufficient for JobKeeper requirements and provides a guide to the amount of top up required.
  • To support the new IQ, new JobKeeper check boxes have been added to:

    •   the employee record
    • Pay Components, Leave Reasons, Additions and Deductions

2020 Updates

Sage MicrOpay Version 8.2 SP1 B1

This is a bulletin release for Sage MicrOpay to prepare for commencement of the JobKeeper Payment. The purpose of this bulletin is to support the ATO's preferred approach for reporting JobKeeper Payments to employees and making the reimbursement process as simple as possible for our customers.

The bulletin contains the following change:

  • The minimum value of an Other Allowance that will now be included in STP Reporting has been reduced from $0.51 to $0.01.

Sage MicrOpay Client Service Update - April 2020

This release is to coincides with ESS release 2.3 and includes the following:

  • a brand new feature that enables bulk activation of Members
  • more flexibility in the Leave Workflow, to allow separate approval paths for specific Leave Reasons
  • changes and fixes to other areas including leave, several reports and syncing

16 Mar - Release v 8.2 SP1

Note: For our customers processing New Zealand payroll, this is a mandatory release.

What’s in this Release?

New Zealand tax changes for the new financial year.

For STP reporting, changes to address duplicated myGov Income Statements for employees with changed Employee Codes:

New messages displayed in STP event grids when employees with changed Employee Codes are detected.

A new option in STP Adjustment to view and zero values reported against an employee’s previous code.

A new option in Implement HR Changes that can improve grid loading time when a large volume of records sent from other applications are to be implemented.

Important Information – prior to upgrading software
For Sage MicrOpay Agents and ESP Users – please read Release Notes – significant security enhancements to password management

All Sage MicrOpay Agents (except Admin and System Agents) will be forced to change their password on first sign in after the upgrade. They will not be able to cancel to exit Sage MicrOpay. Further details – refer Release Notes on Agent Passwords.

HRAdmin (ESP) will no longer be able to enter a new password for a user in their User Access page.

Sage MicrOpay ESP users who have logged in within 30 days prior to the upgrade will be required to reset their password before they are able to login to Sage MicrOpay ESP.

• Sage MicrOpay ESP users who have not singed in for the last 30 days prior to the upgrade will be expired.

2019 Updates

18 Jun - Release v.8.1 SP1 B1

Tax changes for the new financial year, effective 1 July 2019:

  • A new tax scale for employees with Study & Training Support Loans (STSL) that replaces existing HELP/TSL/SSL and SFFS scales
  • Updated SGL quarterly thresholds, Component D ETP caps and the ETP Lower Cap Amount

Changes and new features to support STP Reporting, especially with relation to EOY preparation:

STP Reporting becomes mandatory for ALL employers from 1 July 2019

  • A new value, Gross less Lump Sum D, will now be reported in the Pay Event. From 1 July, the ATO will use this value for BAS pre-filling
  • Many more STP reporting fields are available to add to the Pay Event, Update and Adjustment grids. These will enable you to balance a much wider range of STP values with other reports for EOY reconciliation. A change to permit one, primary employer super contribution only.
  • To further assist with EOY Reconciliation, the STP Event Report has a new format, to make report data easier to review, analyse and balance

20 Mar - Release v.8.1

This release contains important changes related to New Zealand payroll processing, as well as other changes and fixes.

For our customers processing New Zealand payroll, this is a mandatory release:

  • New Zealand tax changes for the 2019/2020 financial year.
  • New features to support Payday filing, which becomes mandatory from 1 April 2019.

Other enhancements:

  • Some fixes and improvements for STP.
  • A change to permit one, primary employer super contribution only.

2018 Updates

7 Dec - Release v.8.0 SP4

In this release, we introduce a new feature, called Sage Notifications as well as several enhancements to Single Touch Payroll Reporting.

Keeping you informed with relevant Notifications

  • Introducing Sage Notifications, a new way of keeping you up to date with the latest Sage MicrOpay updates, version releases and other important legislative announcements and information.
  • If there is a new notification, this will be displayed each time you sign in.
  • A new menu option called ‘Notifications’ has been added to the menu bar, which can be viewed at any time and you can mark as ‘read’.

Single Touch Payroll Reporting functionality enhancements

  • Ability to filter STP Reporting grid by Payment date range.
  • Reporting of YTD pay values for employees whose total pay is salary sacrificed or who receive reimbursement payments.
  • EFT and non-EFT transactions for the same payroll company and pay period can now be reported in a single Pay Event.

Single Touch Payroll Reporting functionality enhancements

  • A new STP Adjustment, which enables the amendment of previously reported, year-to-date employee values.
  • New functionality that allows a Deduction Before Tax to be set up as an employer contribution for employees on total remuneration, which enables correct reporting of contribution values as Super in STP Reporting.
  • Intermediary STP reporting now available, allows an intermediary such as a registered tax agent to complete STP Reporting on an employer’s behalf.
  • Ability to exclude specific employees from STP Reporting.
  • Full-file replacement functionality, to enable a user to replace a pay event previously reported to the ATO.

This bulletin includes changes to the Payment Summary and Pay Advice production process, and enhancements to STP Reporting.

Changes to Payment Summary and Pay Advice production process

Ensuring consistent behaviour with pay advices and pay summaries, preventing interruption in the production process.

STP Reporting functionality enhanced

Sage MicrOpay will now allow End of Pay to be run when there are unreported pay events. We’ve also improved the validation of fields in STP Reporting and STP Update to prevent Unknown Errors when reporting.

27 Jun - Release v.8.0.210 SP2 B1

The highlights of this release include: 

  • ETP Tax Free Termination Payment value is now correctly reported in STP Reporting and STP Update events.
  • Payroll Report Gross and OTE values are now displaying correctly in the previous financial year STP Update window.
  • When reporting an STP Update event with Employees Terminated in the selected Financial Year, the STP Update grid will display the same employees before and after change of tax year is run.
  • Employees who have 8-digit TFNs are now reported correctly in STP Reporting and STP Update events.

  • The main purpose of Sage MicrOpay version 8.0.109 SP1 is to release additional functionality related to STP Reporting, bringing the first version of Update Event functionality.
  • Customers processing New Zealand payroll can now report Employee Share Scheme (ESS) amounts separately to other pay values in the EMS.
  • On upgrade, a check of the SQL Server version and SQL Server compatibility setting is performed.
  • We've corrected several issues related to creating new employees via the New Employee wizard.
