Just 18% of HR leaders believe their organization has.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s according to insights from 500 HR leaders. We polled them to find out how they\u2019re getting ahead in today\u2019s changing world of work \u2013 with revealing findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-research-findings\">Research findings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our new research report, \u2018The changing face of HR\u2019, revealed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-hr-to-people-transformation-is-real\">The HR to People transformation is real<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>94% of HR leaders expect \u2018HR to People\u2019 transformation changes over the next three to five years, with 47% expecting these changes to be significant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-way-hr-operates-is-evolving\">The way HR operates is evolving<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Over a third of HR leaders have adopted new ways of working, such as flexible working, data-driven decision making, and continuous performance management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-technology-used-in-hr-is-changing\">Technology used in HR is changing<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Cloud (43% adopted) and mobile (36% adopted) are top priorities for HR and People teams, but 43% are concerned their organization won\u2019t keep up with changes in technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-new-hr-skillsets-are-required\">New HR skillsets are required<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>86% of respondents believe HR skillsets need to change \u2013 with, worryingly, fewer than one in three HR leaders rating their competency levels as experts today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-hr-is-transforming-to-people\">HR is transforming to People<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The sense from the sector in the research was unanimous: it\u2019s shifting its focus to people. Just as Personnel changed to HR in the 1980s, it\u2019s now evolving into a People function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s four ways our research revealed progressive People leaders can get ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-drive-agile-ways-of-working\">1. Drive agile ways of working<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Agile ways of working in HR means teams can implement changes faster. They can get quicker feedback and take remedial action. By continuously re-designing better ways of working in this way, they can see a quicker impact on productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, organizations need to be responsive to market shifts and changing customer needs. This requires companies to be flexible, adaptive and agile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, our findings show that less than a third of HR leaders currently operate an agile HR model today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As organizations globally move to more agile ways of working, operating as networks and in cross-functional project groups, HR will need to provide the skills and capabilities to design and enable such organizational agility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-address-the-hr-skills-gap\">2. Address the HR skills gap<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>We found that, while recognized, the challenge of plugging the skills gaps within HR has been vastly underestimated. With 86% noting a need to reskill, a global HR skills crunch is almost inevitable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>HR and People leaders feel they are weak in areas such as behavioral sciences, technology, People analytics, and communications. This is despite these areas being rated by respondents as important in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Identify skills gaps in your team now, and where they could be in the future for your organization to get ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As well as upskilling existing HR experts in new People-focused and technological roles, companies have also acknowledged they must diversify, and source skills needed from non-conventional routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-get-ahead-with-technology\">3. Get ahead with technology<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Technology, such as automation and analytics, enables HR to work smarter, faster and more strategically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Actionable insights, for example, are vital for effective decision-making. Automation frees up a third of HR teams\u2019 time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With 43% of HR leaders believing their organization will not keep up with changes in technology over the next 10 years, however, there\u2019s still a lot to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-make-the-business-case\">4. Make the business case<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Worryingly, 53% of HR and People leaders told us that they can\u2019t make the business case for change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Investing in your people is one of the most important business decisions an organization can make. It\u2019s non-negotiable for the success of your organization, and, building a robust and comprehensive business case is the most powerful tool you can use to get that all important slice of budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do it, align your goals with the company\u2019s overall strategy, and demonstrate how change will impact the overall business plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-be-the-face-of-change\">Be the face of change<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Many of us got into HR to change people\u2019s lives for the better, if even a little bit.
