Whether that\u2019s in the<br>\nface of social media or data analytics, or the dramatic increase in remote and<br>\nflexible working as a result of the global pandemic. This decade, the growth of<br>\ntechnology will continue as it did in 2010s \u2013 and potentially even more so. By<br>\nthe end of this decade you can expect HR to be completely unrecognizable<br>\ncompared to today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the biggest changes you can expect is to see a number of<br>\nnew roles in every HR and People team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The changing face of HR, our latest research report surveyed 500 HR and People professionals in mid-sized companies globally, before the pandemic. Our respondents told us some of the changes they expected to see in their organization, and the ones they were already making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their results have helped us to spot trends in the way HR is<br>\nexpected to change in the next decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-unrecognizable-within-10-years\"><strong>\u201cUnrecognizable\u201d within 10 years<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s start from the top: the role of HR Director will be<br>\nunrecognizable in less than a decade, according to the HR leaders we polled. It<br>\nwas one of our most surprising findings; a staggering 82% of them believed that<br>\nto be true when we asked them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So where\u2019s the change coming from? 86% of respondents went on to<br>\nsay that HR Directors will need to upskill in several key areas, so that their<br>\nday-to-day jobs will no doubt look completely different within the next decade.<br>\nIt\u2019s inevitable that will be true for HR teams too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, that\u2019s only scratching the surface when it comes to the many<br>\nways HR teams are expected to change. Here are six roles we think you can<br>\nexpect to see within HR teams in the next decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-hr-data-scientist\">1. <strong>HR Data Scientist<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Data, data, data. It\u2019s easy for HR teams to be drowned in it if<br>\nthey don\u2019t know what they\u2019re looking for, but when a question needs answering,<br>\nit\u2019s invaluable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>42% of the HR and People professionals we surveyed told us they<br>\nhad already adopted data-driven People decisions in their organizations, and a<br>\nfurther 41% were planning to adopt within the next 12 months. Meanwhile, 38%<br>\nwere using real-time HR data to drive decision-making with 51% looking to make<br>\nthis step up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means, over the next ten years, we should expect to see an<br>\nincredible amount of People data collected and stored by major organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As new ways of working\u2014such as remote and flexible working\u2014become more common, analyzing this vast amount of data will be essential. There\u2019s doubt it will require the help of a professional \u2013 in this case, a data scientist who can spot trends and patterns within vast amounts of data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-hr-technology-lead\">2. <strong>HR Technology Lead<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Does your HR and People team have the skills to stay on the cutting<br>\nedge of HR technology?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>43% of the HR professionals we surveyed said no. That\u2019s despite<br>\nthe fact 50% of respondents said they were continuing to invest in HR<br>\ntechnology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This suggests many companies invest in HR technology without a<br>\ndedicated specialist on board to oversee the implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owing to the HR technology growth predicted over the next decade, this will have to change \u2013 and companies will look to hire technology experts as leaders within their HR and People teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-head-of-behavioral-science\">3. <strong>Head of Behavioral Science<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019ve already mentioned the vast amount of People data already<br>\nbeing collected. While a data scientist can help to collect, store and analyze<br>\nthis data, it\u2019ll be up to dedicated scientists to interpret it in order to<br>\ndrive behavioral changes within organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With so much data available, a head of behavioral science\u2019s<br>\nposition will no doubt need to straddle the line between technology and people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will certainly find no shortage of data: 40% of the HR leaders we asked said they were continuously collecting data about their employees\u2019 performance, while 47% plan to start collecting it within a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-communications-and-marketing-lead\">4. <strong>Communications and Marketing Lead<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a striking disconnect between the perceived importance of<br>\nmarketing skills in HR and People teams, and how many actually had these skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our research found that 73% thought the skills would be useful<br>\nwithin three years, but only 30% of teams had already hired marketing<br>\nprofessionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A marketing and communications expert could help your organization to acquire these staff through targeted campaigns \u2013 they may also find themselves responsible for managing company assets such as your website, blog and social media accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-head-of-creativity\">5. <strong>Head of Creativity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Similar to the marketing lead, the head of creativity will be<br>\nresponsible for ensuring your organization\u2019s HR and People team is perceived as<br>\ninnovative and forward-thinking, and that your company is an exciting and<br>\nfulfilling place to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The head of creativity will need experience in creating campaigns<br>\nusing video, digital and perhaps other media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019ll also need to bring creative ideas for how to improve the employee experience at the company. Our panel agrees: 73% of HR leaders we surveyed said creativity will be an important skill within three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-6-head-of-employee-wellbeing\">6. <strong>Head of Employee Wellbeing<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 2010s, mental health and wellbeing at work became a huge<br>\nconversation among HR and People professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With stress and burnout costing organizations their top talent,<br>\nand new ways of working \u2013 such as flexible and remote working \u2013 becoming<br>\nincreasingly popular in People-driven companies, we expect to see further growth<br>\nin these areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yet, only 37% of the HR and People professionals we asked said<br>\nthey had implemented a holistic wellness program in their organization, so there\u2019s<br>\nplenty of potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, rather than go it alone, we believe organizations will need<br>\nprofessionals who can take responsibility for overseeing the wellbeing of the<br>\nwhole workforce, making changes to the organization that benefit mental health<br>\nand wellness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-do-you-think\"><strong>What do you think?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>What HR and People roles do you think will become essential over<br>\nthe next decade?
