In the nonprofit space, friendly advice can change your financial future, and it is readily available\u2014in blogs, whitepapers, and webinars, aimed at helping Canadian nonprofits succeed in their mission.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are many great nonprofit blogs out there aimed at helping finance professionals in Canada, and we\u2019ve compiled a few of our favorites for you to dive into. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

CanadaHelps<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With CanadaHelps, you get two blogs in one location\u2014both backed by the authority of a group that has been supporting Canadian charities big and small for more than 22 years. Their Giving Life blog is a place for thought leaders and charities to share knowledge and engage on all things charitable\u2014to tell stories, foment discussion, and inspire acts of good. The Charity Life blog posts information about online fundraising tools, training, education, and sector news.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Government of Canada<\/strong>\u2014Canada Revenue Agency <\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cCharities and Giving\u201d section of the CRA website provides in-depth information on all aspects of charitable and nonprofit financial requirements. In the \u201cWhat\u2019s New\u201d section, find updates on how new legislation may affect your nonprofit, as well as bulletins and notices regarding tax filing requirements. Occasional webinars provide \u201cHow Tos\u201d on topics like preparing your T3010 online, with links to extended resources.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here, you will also find guidance on maintaining registered status, as well as general information for the charitable sector. Sign up to the email list to receive fresh updates.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governing Good<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This blog is operated by Halifax-based Grant MacDonald, a retired university professor and adult educator with a deep interest in non-profit governance and leadership.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blog is resolutely focused on helping organizations do \u201cgood\u201d\u2014hence the name\u2014as effectively as possible. Explore a wealth of practical advice and examples. The blog offers insight particularly around how nonprofits can improve internally and to create space, as MacDonald notes, \u201cfor conversations about more systemic change.\u201d Aiming his content at boards and executive directors (CEOs), he is especially keen to help those looking to assess where they are, versus where they want to be in the financial sector.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tech Soup Canada<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tech Soup Canada includes everything, from quick tips to online courses, and is focused on helping nonprofits succeed.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TechSoup, a nonprofit itself, was formed in 2009 in collaboration with the nonprofit Centre for Social Innovation, with technology at its core. The \u201cGrow Your Skills\u201d section has links to webinars, courses, previous newsletters, and the blog. It has a presence on social media too, where partners and nonprofits share ideas and expertise relevant to the nonprofit sector.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
