The projects invested in include wind and solar farms and planting and preserving trees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.climatepartner.com\/en\">ClimatePartner<\/a> provides carbon offsets to e-commerce companies, including reforestation projects and hydropower investments. It gives you a trackable ID number that can be shown on packaging and marketing material, which lets your customers track the offsets associated with their purchase.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/carbonfund.org\/take-action\/businesses\/\">Carbonfund<\/a> offers a <a href=\"https:\/\/carbonfund.org\/take-action\/businesses\/carbonfree-programs\/shipping-program\/\">Carbonfree Shipping Program<\/a> for e-commerce businesses. Its projects are focused on reforestation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.carboncheckout.com\/\">Carboncheckout<\/a> is also designed specifically for e-commerce businesses. By using its app, you can give an optional carbon offset during the checkout process and a verification code is assigned to each purchase so your customers can see exactly where their money is being spent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-anchor-link\">How to choose the best carbon offset option<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Check that any provider you want to use is verified by a trusted and reliable third party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This will give you confidence that your donations support projects that make a real and significant difference <em>and<\/em> protect your own businesses from the risky territory of greenwashing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Checking that any offsets you use are audited by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goldstandard.org\/\">The Voluntary Gold Standard (VGS)<\/a> will go a long way to reassuring you as it is the global benchmark and is endorsed by more than 80 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across the world including the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It insists that projects it supports must meet its rigorous standards, and this includes meeting a minimum of three of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.undp.org\/sustainable-development-goals\">Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using offsets certified by the <a href=\"https:\/\/verra.org\/project\/vcs-program\/\">Verified Carbon Standard (VCS)<\/a> will also ensure that your investments have a genuine impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s the world&#8217;s most widely used voluntary emissions reduction standard and trusted by NGOs, the private sector, and governments alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, carbon offsetting is not a replacement for taking actions to reduce your climate impact.
