You must have all new tax codes in place.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>19 April:<\/strong> The latest date you should submit your final reports to HMRC for the 2023\/24 tax year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>31 May:<\/strong> You must have provided employees with P60s no later than this date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>6 July:<\/strong> The date you must have reported on expenses and benefits by using payroll software.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>22 July:<\/strong> You must have paid your class 1A National Insurance contributions by this date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"be\">2.&nbsp;Be the master of your payroll data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It&#8217;s essential to work out what data you need to process end-of-year payroll properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If employees have left your business during the past year or you&#8217;ve hired new starters, now is the time to check you&#8217;ve processed them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This might mean talking with managers and making sure you&#8217;re having regular conversations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sage.com\/en-gb\/blog\/payroll-year-end\/\">Payroll year end<\/a> is a final sweep to make sure you&#8217;ve covered everything. If you have been disciplined and taken care of your records, everything should be in order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Questions you might need to answer for payroll year end include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do you have any ex-employees?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are all deductions processed in time?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Are all benefits outside of payroll included and calculated?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Payroll year end is the perfect time to clarify your data. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;re still using spreadsheets, getting a clear view of your payroll data can be troublesome, and it&#8217;s easy to make mistakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stay on your toes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Legacy payroll management software may not be sophisticated enough to prepare and store your digital records either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sage.com\/en-gb\/sage-business-cloud\/payroll\/\">HMRC-recognised payroll software<\/a> should make all the correct calculations and keep accurate records, so you&#8217;re compliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><div class=\"single-cta\">\n\t<a\n\t\tclass=\"button button--primary gate-ae720d51-2cb4-4728-bc17-df320f17db7a\"\n\t\trole=\"button\"\n\t\tdata-button-location=\"content_area\"\n\t\thref=\"#gate-ae720d51-2cb4-4728-bc17-df320f17db7a\"\n\t>Download your free and easily printable payroll year end checklist, and follow the steps to get your year end sorted<\/a>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"your\">3.&nbsp;Get your FPS and EPS on<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&#8217;ve been sending out your Full Payment Submission (FPS) and Employer Payment Summary (EPS) to HMRC as part of your payroll runs throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sending out your last FPS and EPS are critical steps in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sage.com\/en-gb\/blog\/payroll-year-end\/\">payroll year end process<\/a>, as it&#8217;s the last information you&#8217;ll send to HMRC before the beginning of the next tax year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you&#8217;ve sent your last FPS and EPS to HMRC, they are difficult to change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So it&#8217;s worth ensuring they&#8217;re spot on the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a process for talking to HMRC about anything that isn&#8217;t correct, but it&#8217;s an admin burden you can do without.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An unwritten rule among payroll wizards is that you&#8217;ll do everything you can to avoid having to change anything after tax year end is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"peer\">4.
