Peter Jones<\/a>, our Sage customer for life, sat down with interviewers Nina and Jed to talk about what you can do to ensure your business can perform at its best. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nina:<\/strong> Hi Peter, I\u2019m Nina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> Nina, great to meet you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nina:<\/strong> This is my colleague, Jed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> Wow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jed:<\/strong> Can you tell us three ways that businesses can keep their finger on the pulse?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> Three ways? Keeping their finger on the pulse?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, one, always make sure that you\u2019re up to date with the latest tech you can use in your business, because it advances so quickly and you can easily be left behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keeping up to date with what\u2019s going on with people. Really important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the other thing is most important of all. It\u2019s making sure that you\u2019ve got time on your hands, across your entire business, to focus on driving and pushing for growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So always looking for the next opportunity to grow your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jed:<\/strong> How do you keep your team happy and make them do good work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> I think you take \u2013 firstly, really important to communicate with your team and also spend time working out what their problems are within the business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s stopping them from doing their job really well. Because that\u2019s really important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People can get inundated with paperwork and the boring things, but it\u2019s about motivating people and helping them unlock problems that they\u2019ve got. So, spending a bit of time understanding what their problems are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jed:<\/strong> What if the business people aren\u2019t very good at technology? Can they get somebody to help them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> Do you know what? There\u2019s lots of businesses, and even businesses that I\u2019ve invested in, and invest in, that are not brilliant at technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not all doom and gloom if you haven\u2019t got the right people in your business, because there are people out there that can give you the right advice, that are available at the end of a line, 24\/7, on the telephone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They can talk you through almost any technical issue you have with your software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nina:<\/strong> Back to the fun things. Car races.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> Car races?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jed:<\/strong> Yes, so I\u2019ve got\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> You\u2019ve got a car in there [pointing to Jed\u2019s briefcase]?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jed:<\/strong> We\u2019re going to have a race to the wall over there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> Ok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jed:<\/strong> And see who wins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> First one to the wall?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jed:<\/strong> Alright, then. Where are we starting from?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peter:<\/strong> We\u2019ll start from here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
