They could be tangible assets (such as cash, investments, money owed, supplies, equipment, land or buildings) or intangible assets (such as patents or trademarks).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Assets of any kind must have a measurable value to appear on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sage.com\/en-gb\/blog\/glossary\/what-is-a-balance-sheet\/\">balance sheet<\/a>. Assets are important because together with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sage.com\/en-gb\/blog\/glossary\/what-are-liabilities\/\">liabilities<\/a>, they are a measure the financial health of a business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They are sometimes used in negotiating lending.
