Payroll and compensation management is an important HR function.\r\n\r\nDirect compensation tends to be monetary.\r\n\r\nIt includes basic pay, commissions, overtime pay, bonuses, profit sharing and performance-related pay.\r\n\r\nIndirect compensation is usually in the form of benefits.\r\n\r\nExamples include stock options, travel, car, meal and housing allowances, dental and medical care and insurance, holiday and annual leave, pension schemes, discounts on the organisation\u2019s own goods and services or those of other organisations, memberships, health and wellbeing
