Mind the gap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Interestingly, our findings highlight a significant gap between manufacturing and the global average of other industries when it comes to operational involvement, strategic influence, and collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manufacturing CFOs are currently 10% less likely than their peers in other sectors to be part of operational decision-making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019re also less likely to report significant involvement in strategic planning and collaboration with the C-suite and board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opportunities do indeed exist for manufacturing finance leaders to expand their influence in decision-making and strategic direction\u2014 however, it\u2019s not only the business that can benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With just 24% of senior manufacturing finance leaders happy with their work-life balance and job satisfaction, it\u2019s clear a change is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A culture of flexible working provision and active wellbeing initiatives helps to promote a healthy work-life balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report identifies two additional opportunities to nurture this culture, in essence by creating time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As automated as the manufacturing industry can be, that automation does not always make it to the greater finance and accounting teams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, only 60% of manufacturing CFOs said that over half of their finance processes could be automated, compared to a cross-sector average of 74%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And just 51% of manufacturing finance leaders are adopting new technology such as automation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI), as opposed to 64% across the business world as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
