So let\u2019s break down the stock purchase vs. asset purchase decision and what it means for fixed assets, without over-complications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-stock-purchase-vs-asset-purchase\"><strong>Stock purchase vs. asset purchase<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a stock purchase, you might think you\u2019re buying the whole company, but from a tax perspective, the fixed asset data stays as is. All the original tax bases, book values, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sage.com\/en-us\/blog\/better-fixed-asset-depreciation-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">accumulated depreciation<\/a>, asset lives, and placed-in-service dates stick around, keeping things consistent.
