At first I was like: <em>\u201cNo, I\u2019m good! I\u2019m enjoying where I\u2019m at. I\u2019m enjoying what I\u2019m doing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the more I read the LPGA\u2019s mission, the more I fell in love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working in sports was not aspirational for me. It wasn\u2019t something that I was looking to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m a person who\u2019s motivated by mission and purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aligning with a greater purpose is where I find fulfillment. That\u2019s what drives my performance and who I am as a person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before I joined the LPGA, a friend and I had started a not-for-profit organization that worked with teen girls, helping to propel them past their circumstances. A major part of our mission statement there was to empower girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I felt a surprising alignment when during my interview preparation I saw the word <em>empower<\/em> was in the LPGA\u2019s mission statement, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is an organization introducing girls to a game that can really change their life. Golf sets the trajectory of who they will become. Leaders, and women who show up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It resonated with me personally, and it made me excited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-part-of-the-lpga-mission-feels-most-personal-to-you\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What part of the LPGA mission feels most personal to you?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Girls Golf is the LPGA\u2019s program that introduces girls to the game of golf while helping them grow as individuals. It\u2019s near and dear to me. My daughters even participated in the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You see their confidence arrive in real time. Everything touches finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finance tells a story. It tells where we\u2019ve been and what brought us to where we are today, but it also tells what is available to propel us into the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finance gives the data to make business decisions. It helps say what resources are available to reinvest into programs for our players and our young girls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So finance becomes less of a reporter and more of a coach and an advisor. It provides the strategic direction needed to deploy mission, and maximize programming at the highest level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-s-the-biggest-expectation-of-you-as-cfo\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s the biggest expectation of you as CFO?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Credibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stakeholders want to know<em>, \u201cDo you know what you\u2019re talking about? Do you know the numbers? Do you understand the business enough to advise, and can we move based on what you\u2019re saying?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Credibility takes work. It\u2019s not <em>\u201cI woke up like this.\u201d<\/em> It\u2019s <em>\u201cI worked for this.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I prepare. I analyze. I become familiar with the activities I have stewardship of. So when those questions come up, I\u2019m prepared to answer them and help move our organization forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-do-you-wish-more-people-understood\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What do you wish more people understood?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I don\u2019t think people understand the global nature of what we\u2019re doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019re not just a domestic women\u2019s professional golf tour. We\u2019re transacting and moving all across the globe. We have members from over 40 countries. This year alone, we played in over 12 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s a lot more complex and vast than what I think people realise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-rituals-keep-you-grounded-and-ready\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What rituals keep you grounded and ready?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Preparation is a big one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s a quote: champions are built in the off-season. Our players don\u2019t just show up when they walk to the first tee. They prepare in the off-season. I do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I look at my schedule ahead of time. I prepare for key meetings ahead of time. I anticipate questions and pull the reports that might be needed to answer those questions ahead of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The second ritual is positivity. Mindset matters. I reset through meditation, Scripture (I\u2019m a strong person of faith), and also hype songs that set me in the mood to perform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAll I Do Is Win\u201d by DJ Khaled. \u201cWho Run the World (Girls).\u201d Stuff like that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And honestly, sometimes it\u2019s silence. My drive to the office is about 45 minutes and it becomes time to settle and decompress before the noise of it all. Something purpose-driven. Something for a greater good. We\u2019re able to rally around transforming the lives of women and girls through a game we\u2019ve grown to love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-does-it-feel-like-to-be-a-woman-leading-in-an-industry-that-s-historically-been-male-driven\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What does it feel like to be a woman leading in an industry that\u2019s historically been male-driven?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It becomes about proving something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Women are powerful, women are purposeful, women are here, and women have a place at every table and in every space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when women show up, it\u2019s with purpose and intention. And we perform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-s-your-secret-ritual-before-a-big-moment\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s your \u201csecret\u201d ritual before a big moment?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Being my own hype man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Looking in the mirror and hyping myself up: \u201cGirl, you got this.\u201d \u201cYou\u2019re here for a reason.\u201d \u201cYou\u2019re enough.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-s-your-leadership-superpower\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s your leadership superpower?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have a really good memory. I have all the receipts, and I can pull them up whenever I need to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-do-you-think-about-ai\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What do you think about AI?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019ll tell you today: I don\u2019t know enough about it yet. But I\u2019m excited about the possibility. And I\u2019ve been working with my team on changing mindset around AI, being open to adopting what I believe will propel us into the next iteration of greater financial efficiencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019d automate everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If my team can be less in the weeds and less in transactions, and take a step back to understand the why, pinpoint assumptions and outliers, develop their acumen around the numbers, and rely on a system for transactional work, they can develop as thought leaders, advisors, coaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That would be a win for everyone, not just finance, but across the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-how-does-finance-help-level-the-playing-field-in-women-s-sport\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How does finance help \u201clevel the playing field\u201d in women\u2019s sport?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can only do so much with what we have. We\u2019re a small team with limited resources, especially compared to other sports organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So we have to maximize all resources: talent and financial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That means discipline and stewardship. Driving limited resources into the best and highest use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finance becomes an advisor: coaching where to drive resources, analyzing return on investments, making sure resources generate the highest return and greatest impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s doing a lot with little and being the first champions of helping the organization do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-s-one-principle-you-refuse-to-compromise-on\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u2019s one principle you refuse to compromise on?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Integrity. I\u2019m a person of my word. If I say I\u2019m going to do something, I\u2019m going to do it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No matter what profession I\u2019m in, I have to be comfortable with who I am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-how-do-you-balance-being-an-expert-with-staying-open-to-new-ideas\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How do you balance being an expert with staying open to new ideas?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can\u2019t be rigid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You have to maintain curiosity: are we doing this the right way? Is there a better way? Is there something innovative that helps us gain efficiencies and use resources better?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Things are changing, evolving all the time. If you become stagnant and stuck, you\u2019ll get left behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-if-you-could-speak-to-mary-20-years-ago-what-would-you-tell-her\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If you could speak to Mary 20 years ago, what would you tell her?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Be willing to take big risks. Be willing to get uncomfortable in certain spaces, because you never know where that might lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Own it. Step into it. Do it scared. Whatever you have to do. Don\u2019t miss your moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s you versus you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s easy to compare yourself to others. It\u2019s easy to compete with others, especially in a sports organization where competition is everywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But it\u2019s really you versus you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commit to being the best version of yourself. Do something every day to make yourself better, to grow, to develop, to keep challenging yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you commit to that, it translates into showing up as
