Or the thought of having all your data out there on the internet seems like a risky move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, the world of cloud computing has evolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a variety of benefits to be gained from switching to the cloud, it\u2019s time for companies who haven\u2019t moved yet to consider it. Cloud is secure \u2013 and compliant <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most personal information an organization holds about its staff is held within the HR and People function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bank details, home addresses, salary details, perhaps information about medical conditions. Cloud is easy to use<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike legacy on-premise systems, switching to the cloud eliminates the need for regular software maintenance, as well as getting rid of issues such as sensitive hardware, disaster recovery, disruptive upgrades, and expensive licenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the cloud \u2013 often referred to as software-as-a-service (SaaS) \u2013 you also only pay for what you need and can be up and running a lot quicker than traditional IT deployments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also reduces the reliance on your IT department, so the total cost of ownership is a lot less than traditional on-premise software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not only easier to implement, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sage.com\/en-us\/blog\/hr-software-ultimate-guide\/\">cloud HR systems<\/a> are significantly easier to use and manage than traditional on-premise systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u2019s employee is used to a very different world of handwritten ledgers or pay \u2018packets\u2019 \u2013 actual envelopes containing real money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We live in an on-demand world where employees, as consumers, can do their grocery shopping, order dinner, and hail a cab on a mobile phone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Employees expect this kind of immediacy at work too. Why shouldn\u2019t they be able to book leave anywhere, anytime, from their phone?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-cloud-integrates-with-other-company-applications\"><strong>3. Cloud integrates <\/strong><strong>with other company applications<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A cloud HR system is not a silo. It can \u2018talk\u2019 to other systems within your business \u2013 such as payroll and finance \u2013 sharing the appropriate data as required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On-premise systems often require data to be exported to Excel to be manipulated for reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is inefficient at best, and at worst can lead to poor business decision making.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every time HR data changes, the export and report compilation processes need to be repeated. Cloud is scalable and global <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Older, unsophisticated systems are not well equipped to deal with multinational operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, if someone in a satellite office gets married, or changes their address, or moves bank, the information about this event must be entered into the HR system and then also manually re-keyed into the payroll software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s double the effort, taking double the time.
