It’s day two of Sage Summit in Atlanta and the momentum is still going strong as thousands of attendees packed the Georgia World Congress Center.
Day two was customer day, and we turned the spotlight on our business builders in a big way. Sage customers Black Mermaid Bath and Body and Lodge Cast Iron were in the building and part of our customer tribute this morning. Check out their journeys with Sage!
Sage Foundation donated $250,000 to our three charity partners, Junior Achievement, Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta and Hire Heroes USA, and our friends Philanthropitch.org hosted a pitch contest live from our showroom floor called the Big Give Live. Think of it as a feel-good version of Shark Tank – our non-profits pitched to a panel of partners, Sage colleagues and Sage CEO Stephen Kelly for a chance at a cash donation. We’ll announce the winners tomorrow –stay tuned!

Keynote kickoff: Mayor Kasim Reed joined CEO Stephen Kelly and Managing Director Nancy Harris to welcome the crowd. Kasim reflected on Sage’s history with the city, making its debut into the city when Sage acquired Peachtree Software in the late ‘70s. Mayor Reed noted that since then, Sage has been an intricate part of Atlanta’s transformation into a technology hub, and assured SMBs that the city is committed to offering the latest in technology to drive small business.
SMB Expert Business Panel: EVP of Sage USA Connie Certusi facilitated a panel discussion among business leaders about how to build a business and keep it relevant. Panelists were entrepreneurs Susan Solovic and Gene Hammett, former CEO of Kevy and founder of MarketWake Brooke Beach, founder and roadie Marc Gorlin, and CIO of Enzymedica Shane McCombs.
Product demos: EVP of Product Marketing Jennifer Warawa and EVP of Product Management Nick Goode gave live product demonstrations of Sage Live, Sage 50c with Microsoft 360 integration and Sage One. They also revealed the 12-month product roadmap for all Sage products.

Who says social media marketing is complicated? Enterprise companies know the value of engaging customers on social, and the same can work for small businesses. Sage experts Kay Dexter and Wendy Van Gilst shared easily applicable tips to get started.

Starting a business can have many legal implications – some you see coming and some you may not. Audra Dial of Kilpatrick Townsend and Stockton LLP covered the basics, like legal entity form/structure, intellectual property, employment, false advertising and governmental safety regulations.
