Sage Simplifies Expense Management with No-Cost App for iPhone and iPad

Sage Expenses eliminates the complexity of managing expenses, making the shoebox of receipts—the cause of so much wasted time and money—a relic of the past

ATLANTA (May 11, 2016)Sage, the market leader for integrated accounting, payroll and payment systems, today announced the launch of Sage Expenses, a fast and simple way to record and understand business transactions.

Many millions of businesses consider accounting software to be too complex, time consuming and just not for them. They avoid it by mostly using spreadsheets, which create more work over time and never provide a complete view of their business.

Sage Expenses completely eliminates the complexity of managing expenses with an app that records transactions in seconds, provides a real-time view of performance and eliminates time wasted with paper records.

With Sage Expenses, special IT skills or accounting genius are not required. In just a few seconds, a user can enter money-in and money-out transactions, take a photo of a receipt, and remove the effort of keeping track of many pieces of paper that often get lost or mislaid. The transactions and associated paperwork are kept together in the app and in the cloud for whenever the business owner or accountant needs them.

Key facts:

  • Sage Expenses is a complimentary, easy-to-use mobile app for iPhone and iPad designed for micro and small businesses.
  • Sage Expenses allows users to record money-in and money-out transactions quickly and simply, uploading photos as proof of sale or receipts.
  • Sage Expenses users can move seamlessly to Sage One as their activities grow, giving access to enhanced features such as automated bank feeds and collaboration with an accountant.
  • Initially available in the U.K. and U.S., Sage Expenses will be available globally in the coming months.

Sage Expenses customer, Kevin Hunt, director at CSB Carpet and Fabric Care Ltd, said, "What I like about the Sage Expenses mobile app is the simplicity of it; we can go into a fuel station, fill the van up with diesel, pay, and when we get back into the van, we can put the transaction into Sage and upload a photograph of the receipt and job done . . . it makes life so simple."

Bo Lekkegarrd, associate vice president of European software at IDC, said, "Sage Expenses addresses the gap between completely manual bookkeeping and an accounting solution. Many entrepreneurs have a passion for their business but do not feel ready to manage accounting tasks themselves. The app is very simple and allows the business owner to basically record money coming in and going out while on the road. IDC believes that an intuitive and complimentary app can facilitate a first step for a vast number of entrepreneurs towards a full online accounting solution."

Matthew Forrest, vice president of product marketing for Sage One, said, "As the champion of Small & Medium Businesses, Sage is proud to be able to offer a complimentary iOS app that's perfect for entrepreneurs who would otherwise never dream of using accounting software. Sage Expenses shows its value from the minute you open it. It not only saves time, it brings peace of mind to the many people currently using spreadsheets to keep track of business expenses."

The full Sage One portfolio will be on show at Sage Summit, the world's largest gathering of entrepreneurs and leaders of Small & Medium Businesses, taking place in Chicago, IL, on July 25-28
