Payroll and HR\u00a0professionals\u00a0have access to valuable \u2013 and sensitive \u2013 data that can increase productivity, aid in compliance,\u00a0and help attract the best talent. Still, without\u00a0a system that can\u00a0help them tap into this data, they will never be able to access the insights it provides.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In August 2021, Sage conducted its most recent study, payroll and HR<\/em><\/a><\/span>\u00a0in<\/em> SA: Rising to the challenges of change<\/i>.\u00a0We\u00a0interviewed 600 small\u00a0and 400 medium-sized businesses\u00a0on\u00a0how they are\u00a0handling the\u00a0increasing\u00a0complexities\u00a0in HR and payroll while\u00a0simultaneously\u00a0dealing with the\u00a0challenges\u00a0of\u00a0remote working and data security.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0study revealed that\u00a049%\u00a0of respondents believe that the overwhelming reason for the complexity is the continual changes in regulations and legislation,\u00a0which results in the biggest payroll challenge: staying compliant<\/mark>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The only constant is change<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Businesses\u00a0that rely on manual or offline payroll systems\u00a0struggle\u00a0most with the\u00a0continual\u00a0changes.\u00a0Since\u00a047% of\u00a0payroll\u00a0and HR\u00a0professionals handle\u00a0compliance\u00a0daily, they spend a disproportionate amount of time\u00a0on manual, repetitive tasks and\u00a0data\u00a0management.<\/mark> This\u00a0leaves\u00a0little to no time to take advantage of\u00a0important matters,\u00a0such as applying for\u00a0employee tax incentives or making their workforces more\u00a0attractive to the incoming\u00a0Gen Z.<\/span> In fact,\u00a077% of respondents\u00a0admit to struggling with the\u00a0complexity of payroll taxes<\/mark>. While\u00a0most know the importance of staying up to date with\u00a0new and changing\u00a0legislation and regulations, many find it near impossible to do so.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
