On the ball: Powering insights in rugby and in business

The AI-enabled smart ball is here, powered by Sage. By measuring information on speed, distance, and time, the Gilbert smart ball provides real-time insights to players, coaches, fans and even viewers at home.

With built-in AI technology, the smart ball communicates with sensors around the stadium up to 20 times per second. Just as in business, Sage is providing powerful insights behind human-to-human strategy. 

Sage and Six Nations: It's game time

Sage will support insights and decision-making during the Six Nations and Autumn Nations by giving fans new in-game insights through the innovative new smart ball, sponsorship of additional stats, as well as branding the Television Match Official (TMO). 


The Autumn Nations Series consists of five rounds of rugby fixtures that sees the best of the Northern Hemisphere welcome the best of the Southern Hemisphere, reigniting rugby rivalries that offer fans a series of truly unmissable experiences.  

The Guinness Six Nations is the oldest international rugby tournament in the world, dating back to its original incarnation in 1883 and expanding to its current format of six teams in 2000. It sees England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales compete to become Europe’s top international men’s team.
