Sage Foundation NPO Success is committed to helping non-profits by providing valuable learning opportunities suitable for employees, leaders, trustees and volunteers. We have partnered with three established industry providers, Colour Accounting and Axcelerate to build a tailored range of courses that will meet your needs regardless of where you are on your learning journey.

Colour Accounting is an international publishing company and workplace education provider. Their mission is to empower individuals and organisations by improving accounting literacy. 

 

The course uses the Colour Accounting Learning System, which makes accounting simple by approaching the subject visually. You will progress your understanding of Accounting and Financial Statements, so that you can better communicate financial concepts with your stakeholders, eg trustees, staff and your accountants.

By the end of the session you will:

  • Understand the key accounting categories of Assets, Liabilities, Funds (Equity), Income and Expenses. 
  • Know what is on a Balance Sheet, what is in the Statement of Financial Activity (SOFA) and how these link to each other. 
  • Know how double entry accounting works. 
  • Understand accounting concepts such as income recognition, asset acquisitions, depreciation, prepayments, accruals and deferrals. 
  • Have a better understanding of the financial reporting requirements for NPOs in South Africa. 
  • Have built your confidence in communicating around financial matters with your team, accountants, or stakeholders. 
  • Be able to read Financial Statements more thoroughly. 

There are 10 minutes included at the end for a dedicated Q&A session.

 

 

Axcelerate is a professional services firm that is an accredited partner of Sage, they provide implementation, support and training of our products to enable customers to operate their businesses cost effectively. 

 

The course will help you understand and learn the concepts and practices of bookkeeping for non-profits in South Africa. This training will take place over two full days and you need to attend both days of the same course. 

Delegates will be taught theory of accounting, value added tax and the bookkeeping cycle from source documents to reporting.

Who should attend:

This course is for finance administrators in the non-profit sector with no bookkeeping experience.

The course will help you optimise the use of Sage Business Cloud Accounting for your non-profit organisation in South Africa.

Delegates will be taught how to use Sage Business Cloud Accounting for their non-profit organisation, so they can process bookkeeping entries and maximise sponsor reporting.

Who should attend:

This course is for novice finance administrators in the non-profit sector who are either using or about to start using Sage Business Cloud Accounting to manage their organisation's finances.
