About the seminar

Our new series, the “Essentials of…” seminars, are designed to provide the essential knowledge and skills you need to safely manage the most troublesome and frequently occurring aspects of the practical management of your workforce.  The series is designed to free your firm from the risk of adverse awards and costs in the CCMA, and unproductive management time on problems that could have been avoided, and proper compliance with the mass of confusing labour law.

These seminars will give practical solutions, knowledge based workbooks and checklists to keep you safe.

Essentials of Dismissal
Every Company has to deal with discipline on a regular basis. It cannot be avoided – and why should it?  You have no need to keep employees who can’t or won’t perform, who are dishonest, or repeatedly misconduct themselves.  If you know the inside track and avoid the traps that wait for the unwary, you can do a better, quicker, easier and more successful job.  Using the checklists provided, you will avoid the perils and costs that wait for the unwary.

Who Should Attend?  The session is designed for anyone who has overall responsibility in the organisation for the management of discipline, or any line officer who manages the disciplinary process for staff reporting in.  HR or IR specialists are especially welcome, as will those on development programmes for managerial promotion, and of course, payroll practitioners who have to process the data.

Our Checklist approach:  Delegates will receive four fail-safe check lists to guide them (1) Conducting the Investigation (2) Analysing the evidence (3) Failsafe charging (4) Exiting the employee smoothly and safely

Some of questions we will answer in the seminar are given below, so you can see the practical value you will receive. This seminar will show you, amongst other things;

  • Why basing disciplinary action on the common law obligations of the employee is the fail-safe route for success
  • How to conduct proper investigations and manage evidence for successful outcomes
  • Water-tight charging techniques for success
  • Outside representation, stalling, failure to attend, obstructive shop stewards and other FAQ’s about the hearing
  • When and how to use the mutually agreed separation agreement approach
  • The date of dismissal, final pay, deductions, references, and exiting the employee swiftly and safely

Book your seat now and let labour expert Dan Levy explain the legislation in layman’s terms to ensure you are well equipped.
