Sage One Accounting gives flexibility and more freedom to MadePod

22 April 2016

Full service digital agency, MadePod, is using the cloud-based Sage One Accounting software to stay on top of its finances and to keep its business flowing.

The company is benefitting from the flexibility of online software priced on a subscription basis as well as the ability to access accounting information wherever it is.

Like many SMEs and start-ups, MadePod was relying on Microsoft’s Excel to keep track of financials and customers and creating its invoices with Word.

Co-founder Paul Westgate was sure that there had to be a more efficient way to do things and started to investigate his options online. After several recommendations from other people, he decided to check out Sage One Accounting.

“As a new small business, our cash flow is tight and we can't afford to buy one of the big accounting packages,” he says. “But the price of Sage One is fantastic, plus it’s available on a monthly subscription. It gives us a great view of our finances.”

The fact that Sage One Accounting is cloud-based means that the MadePod team can access the software wherever they are. This is a major benefit as it means that Westgate and his business partner can have real-time visibility into the company’s finances. Westgate can use Sage One Accounting from a laptop, tablet or his mobile phone while he’s out and about doing meetings. He can even access it securely from a customer’s computer if necessary.

Sage One Accounting makes it simple for MadePod to invoice and quote on-the-go. It can produce professional-looking invoices with its branding at the click of a button. Clients can even access their invoices online.

Westgate is particularly enthusiastic about a feature that allows him to scan invoices from his smartphone and capture them into the accounting package. “Sage One is easy to use, even for a layman,” says Westgate. “You don’t have to be an accountant to get the most from it.”

“Many SMEs are still struggling to stay on top of their business admin because they rely on manual tools such as Excel spreadsheets to track income and expenses,” says Steven Cohen, Head of Sage One International (Africa, Australia, Middle East, Asia and Brazil).

“But the cloud means that robust, intuitive accounting software is now within the price range of even the smallest businesses. Such software frees small business owners from hours of manual data capture and processing each month so that they can focus on growing their businesses. We at Sage believe in enabling our customers to focus on their business and help them to leapfrog to the future.”
