Wiseman Ripinga started SWR Accounting Services in 2015, inspired by his previous boss’s encouragement and the desire to build a business – and a home - of his own.
Building your own business and a house from scratch is no mean feat, so he’s been a busy man with a tight schedule - relying heavily on Sage’s Pastel Accounting Partner product to save time and easily generate reports for clients.
So, it was a no-brainer to refer Sage Pastel Partner to one of his own clients, Beacon College, when they were looking for a payroll solution.
While Ripinga knew that Sage offered big prizes for recommending its products –he didn’t imagine that he’d be the lucky person walking away with a cheque for R125 000 thanks to his successful referral.
At a draw held at Sage’s Pretoria office on 18 January 2018, he was announced as the grand prize winner of the FY17 Refer & Earn campaign.
“I’m speechless. I’m going to use the money to finish building my house in Kamhlushwa, Mpumalanga”, he said.
Be in it to win it
While Ripinga may have a bit of luck on his side, he took the first step to winning by ensuring that his name was in the draw by referring a new customer to Sage.
“We receive 70% of all our leads via word-of-mouth and referrals, thanks to our customers’ satisfaction with our products and services”, says Pieter Bensch, EVP for Sage Africa & Middle East. “Whether it’s your local grocery store owner or a friend or family member, everyone knows someone whose business would benefit from an automated accounting, HR, payroll or payments solution”.
It’s as easy as that!
In FY17, over 800 referrals were made, bringing in over R5 million for the business and putting cash into the pockets of Sage colleagues and customers.
The Refer and Earn campaign gives Sage the chance to reward people for their support and loyalty. Each referral earns commission of between R500 and R5000, and is entered into the annual draw.
“If our software has saved you time, improved your business processes or supported you in complying with legislation, we’ll reward you for referring us to your network,” adds Bensch.
