Sage focuses AI collaboration with AWS on everyday financial workflows

  • Sage is advancing work with AWS on AI agents for financial workflows, including accounts payable, cash flow, payroll and compliance
  • Sage Developer Solutions on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore give Sage and developers a foundation to build specialist AI capabilities for these workflows
  • AWS Marketplace provides a route for customers to discover and deploy Sage and partner solutions as they become available
TORONTO (Nov. 5, 2026) – Sage (FTSE: SGE), the leader in accounting, financial, HR and payroll technology for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), today set out how its collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is advancing AI for the financial work businesses rely on. The work focuses on processes such as handling supplier invoices, managing cash flow, processing payroll and meeting compliance requirements.

For a business, the value of AI in finance is not simply getting an answer to a question. It is having support through the steps of a process, with relevant information brought together and important decisions kept in view. In accounts payable, for example, an AI agent could gather information related to a supplier invoice, check it against relevant records, flag an exception and prepare it for review. A person would remain involved in decisions that need their judgement, such as resolving an exception or approving payment.

“AI can help businesses see what needs attention in their finances and move routine work forward, while keeping people involved in important decisions,” said Gretchen O’Hara, EVP, Strategic Partnerships and Alliances, Sage. “That is the opportunity in our work with AWS: bringing Sage’s understanding of financial processes together with cloud and AI technology, and giving developers more ways to build solutions around the work businesses need to get done.”

Bringing AI into financial workflows

Sage Developer Solutions on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore provide a foundation for Sage and developers to build AI solutions around financial workflows. Sage brings its knowledge of financial software and the processes businesses need to manage; developers and partners can bring expertise in particular industries and customer needs.

That combination matters because financial work varies from business to business. A specialist solution could be designed around a particular process, industry requirement or type of exception, rather than expecting every business to work in the same way. AWS Marketplace provides a route for customers to discover and deploy Sage and partner solutions as they become available.

Sage is also working with AWS on technology integration to connect Sage products with AWS services. This work is intended to support more connected experiences and give Sage and its developers a foundation for bringing new capabilities into the financial software businesses already use.

“AI makes a practical difference when it helps customers spend less time on routine tasks and more time on the work that needs their attention,” said Tim Peters, Managing Director of Global Sales Segments, AWS. “Sage brings deep experience in financial software and the workflows businesses depend on. Through our collaboration, Sage is building a foundation on AWS for developers to build AI solutions that help simplify financial tasks, so that customers can focus on what matters most –  growing their business.”

For construction and project-based businesses, Wipfli’s Job Insights Agent surfaces job profitability, cost to complete, billing and project performance through Sage Copilot. It draws on Sage Intacct data and, where available, Procore data, and can reconcile project costs and billing across the two systems even when they are not integrated. Wipfli is preparing to make the agent available for purchase through AWS Marketplace.

“Construction and project-based businesses need to understand how each job is performing, but the relevant information can sit across finance and project systems,” said Matt Rowley, Partner – Service Line Leader, Wipfli. “With Job Insights Agent, customers can ask Sage Copilot about profitability, cost to complete, billing and project performance using their Sage Intacct data and, where available, Procore data. We’re preparing to make the agent available through AWS Marketplace so customers can access a solution built around these needs.”

Making AI solutions easier to access

These developments speak to a practical challenge for developers: an agent needs to do more than complete a single step. It may need to work through a sequence of tasks, respond to exceptions and be assessed as it operates. For customers, that is relevant to the financial workflows where accuracy, oversight and a clear hand-off to a person matter.

We extend that commitment by using our time, resources and experience to help create opportunity in the communities where we live and work.

Notes to editors

Sage has set out the focus of its expanded collaboration with AWS: applying AI to financial workflows and supporting developers who create specialist solutions for those workflows. The announcement does not introduce a new customer-facing AI product or availability date.

Agentic AI uses AI systems to coordinate defined steps in a task. For example, an agent could gather information related to a supplier invoice, check it against relevant records and flag an exception for a person to review. The example describes a potential workflow, not a Sage capability available today.

The collaboration focuses on areas including accounts payable, cash flow management, payroll processing and compliance reporting. Sage has not announced specific AI capabilities or products for these workflows.

It is part of Sage’s work with AWS to give Sage and developers a foundation for building AI solutions around financial workflows. AWS Marketplace provides a route for customers to discover and deploy Sage and partner solutions.

Partners can contribute knowledge of particular industries and business processes to build specialist solutions around Sage products. AWS Marketplace can provide a route for customers to find and deploy those solutions. The specific products and their availability have not been announced.

AWS has added tools designed to help developers evaluate agent performance and test improvements, as well as runtime options that support persistent, multi-step workflows. These are AWS capabilities. Sage has not announced that they are being used in a specific Sage solution. aws.amazon.com

Sage has not announced availability dates for new AI solutions from this collaboration. It will share timing as the work progresses.
