On 3 September, we held our second Sage Advice Live virtual event – ‘Strategies for the future of work’.

Hosted by Mark Jones, Chief Storyteller & CEO of Filtered Media, the event brought together a panel of Australian business leaders to discuss the key issues facing payroll and HR teams in a world shaped by COVID-19.

Rhonda discusses how COVID-19 has impacted the way we work, including the emergence of new trends like the four-day working week.

She explains how the sudden shift to remote working has “reset the psychological contract around work,” revealing four key lessons for payroll and HR teams.

Rhonda then provides practical tips to help payroll professionals simplify the way they work.

Christine Cocuzza, National Payroll Manager, AFL

Christine shares what it’s like working for the AFL and how it’s people-first culture saw it through the challenges of COVID-19.

She details her how her payroll team managed the shift to remote working and the introduction of JobKeeper.

Christine then shares her experience using Sage MicrOpay and her advice for how payroll teams can best engage employees in a post-COVID-19 world.

Kerry Agiasotis, Managing Director & EVP of Sage Asia Pacific

Kerry discusses the critical role cloud technology played in keeping the economy and businesses going following the outbreak of COVID-19.

He shares the lessons he learnt guiding Sage through its shift to remote working, including the importance of work-life balance and facilitating social engagement with cloud technology.

Kerry goes on to explain how cloud HCM solutions are helping payroll and HR teams efficiently manage both the operational and human side of workforce management.

Q&A session

The event ends with our panel answering questions from event attendees, covering remote working, the top three skills for the future workplace, modern award annualised salaries, as well as how employee onboarding and training will look going forward.
