[White paper] The digital CFO: From number-cruncher to storyteller

The financial leadership role has shifted significantly in response to ongoing disruption caused by COVID-19. Increasingly, businesses are looking to finance leaders to steer them through market change, uncertainty, and unpredictability.

To do this – and to empower remote and hybrid teams – finance leaders need accurate, relevant, and reliable insights that highlight opportunity and mitigate risk.

As such, we conducted a study that surveyed  313 senior finance professionals from businesses with 50 to 5,000 employees during August 2021 to help finance leaders better understand the key shifts in their roles and responsibilities – and how their peers are navigating the changing landscape. This research aims to provide senior financial decision-makers and CFOs with strategic and relevant insights that support their role reinvention as they adjust to a digitised working world.

Our study concluded that finance leaders can no longer use numbers to simply report on what is, but they must now turn data into compelling narratives that offer accurate forecasting and interpretation of trends.
