Sage Active expands AI capabilities to help European small businesses grow faster

New AI-driven financial insights and automation tools empower small businesses to drive productivity, streamline workflows, and improve cash flow management.

London, 25th March 2025 - Sage, the leader in accounting, financial, HR, and payroll technology for small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs), has announced powerful new AI enhancements and customisation options for Sage Active. These updates help European small businesses and accountants work smarter and grow faster.

Small businesses across Europe are increasingly turning to AI and digital tools to drive productivity and fuel growth. According to Sage’s latest Small Business, Big Opportunity report, half (50%) of small businesses in surveyed European markets see productivity as the top benefit of AI, while two-thirds (67%) believe AI is critical or very important for revenue growth. In response to this growing demand, Sage Active is delivering new AI-driven insights and automation capabilities to help small businesses make better decisions, reduce admin, and improve cash flow.

The latest update enhances Sage Copilot, the AI assistant embedded in Sage Active, with new instant balance sheet analysis. Small businesses can now gain real-time visibility into financial health, identify strengths and weaknesses, and make informed decisions with confidence.

Additionally, Sage Copilot now offers enhanced quote and invoice insights, enabling businesses to refine financial workflows. With new flexible filtering options, businesses can adjust timeframes for document analysis, and streamline payment reminders, improving cash flow and reducing admin time.

“Small Businesses and accountants need technology that evolves with them, providing practical solutions that save time and increase accuracy,” said Neal Watkins, EVP, Accounting and HR, Sage. “These AI-powered enhancements empower business owners to focus on growth while minimising manual tasks, while also giving accountants deeper insights to better support their clients.”

Continuous innovation for small business success

Sage Active’s latest updates highlight Sage’s commitment to evolving to meet the needs of small businesses across Europe. To further support business growth, Sage Active’s enhanced accounting dashboard now includes new performance indicators, return on sales, assets, and equity, providing small businesses with a clearer view of profitability and financial health at a glance.

The latest Sage Active updates mean businesses can:

  • Create smarter, more customisable sales documents – New templates ensure professional and branded customer communication.
  • Manage payments more effectively – Managing advance payments and capturing financial documents is now easier than ever, helping small businesses reduce admin time and improve cash flow visibility.
  • Streamline onboarding for new customers – Enhanced data import tools and in-product onboarding support help small businesses get up and running quickly, and unlock the full potential of Sage Active from day one.

“The introduction of Sage Copilot in Sage Active is a game-changer for us,” said Xavier Macao, Responsable Administratif, CCJ Carrelage. “With automatic reminders, we are saving two-minutes per invoice because all I do is click and its done. All this time quickly adds up, and we now have more time to focus on driving our business forward.”
