Like the business builders we serve, Sage began as a modest British startup with a big ambition.

Our founder David Goldman wanted to automate accounting processes in his own business. Working with a team of Newcastle University students, he developed software to make it happen – and realised other businesses could benefit from this too. In 1981, our founder David Goldman faced a problem. He wanted to create quotes quickly for his print business and keep track of his accounts. So David worked with a team from Newcastle including Dr. Paul Muller, a computer expert who worked with NASA, and student Paul Graham. Some eight years later, Sage was listed on the London Stock Exchange with a £20m valuation.

By 2015, Sage had 13,000 employees across 23 countries and revenues of £1,436 million, and today we work with millions of business people in all types of industries around the world. Today, Sage has 13,000 employees and serves millions of customers in 23 countries across Europe, Africa, Australia, Asia, Latin America, and North America.

Sage Summit UK

Thousands of business people from the UK and abroad attended this year's event. Catch the highlights below.

Let's build a better future

We envision a world where all people and communities thrive because they are living with economic stability and social equality. If our local communities thrive, so do we.

Causes we care about

Last year, Sage and its employees supported a number of organisations. We gave 3,480 items in in-kind donations from food to toys to help local charities.

Helping communities across the UK

Sage employees are given five paid days per year to help a charity. That's about 120,000 hours to make British communities a better place to live.

Looking after our customers

Sage has emergency procedures to help customers when they need it most; we get businesses up and running again as quickly as possible.

Helping the next generation

We provide complimentary and discounted software to high schools, universities, and colleges. Since 2008, we've given over £1,000,000 away in software.
