Sage recognised as Top Employer in South Africa for 2021

Top Employers Institute recognises Sage as one of SA's most advanced employers for second consecutive year.

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA, 2 March 2021 – Sage, the market leader for cloud business management solutions, has been officially recognised by the Top Employers Institute as a Top Employer 2021 in South Africa. Organisations certified as Top Employers dedicate themselves to providing the best working environment for employees through their progressive ‘people-first’ HR practices.

Says Marvin Opperman, People Director, Sage Africa & Middle East: “Our colleagues are what makes Sage great. It is their passion and commitment that drives innovation and a superior customer experience in our business. Colleague success is hugely important to us and so we are particularly proud to receive this award for the second consecutive year. Even in a year as challenging as this, it shows we are succeeding in fostering collaboration and employee engagement. I’m incredibly proud of our team’s dedication and resilience and the way the business has supported colleagues and customers through this time.”

Sage has taken a number of steps to support colleagues and promote mental and physical wellbeing during the pandemic. This includes,

  • Giving all colleagues globally three wellbeing days - paid days away from the office in addition to their usual holiday entitlement – in recognition of their hard work and commitment to each other and to customers during the pandemic.
  • Providing a range of tools and resources to support a healthy mind, a healthy body, healthy communities and healthy finances, such as Headspace App, which offers techniques and tools for promoting mindfulness and managing stress. Family@Sage, which is a community for all colleagues looking for more peer support, is also helping colleagues to feel connected at this time of physical distancing.
  • Providing South African colleagues the necessary equipment to work from home where homes weren’t ready to double as offices.

Top Employers Institute CEO, David Plink, says: “Despite the challenging year we have experienced, Sage has continued to demonstrate the power of putting its people first in the workplace. We are proud to share this year’s announcement and congratulate the organisations who have been certified in their respective countries through the Top Employers Institute programme.”

The programme has certified and recognised more than 1 600 Top Employers in 120 countries/regions across five continents.
