Welcome - this guide provides information about accessibility for visitors to our Newcastle office.

Accessibility guidelines

  • From the street to the main entrance, there is level access.

  • Main entrance has automatic sensor doors which are 136cm wide.

There is level access from the main entrance to:

  • Main entrance (sensor door).
  • Bistro dining area (manually operated doors).
  • Elevator area (access via controlled speed gate, 100cm wide).
  • Multi- faith room and quiet room (manually operated doors via 90cm door).
  • Accessible toilet (manually operated via 90cm door).
  • Accessible shower (manually operated via 90cm door).

  • We have six lifts.
  • You can get a lift to all floors.
  • The lift door is 100cm wide. The lift is 168cm deep.
    All lift buttons raised (lift landing call button is 101.5cm height from floor and lift buttons are 112cm maximum height from floor).
    Lifts will show floor numbers at each floor.
  • Access to all passenger lifts via access-controlled speed gate (100cm wide).

  • There is a public toilet for disabled visitors.
  • From the main entrance to the public toilet, there is level access.
  • Toilet doors are manually operated and 90cm wide.
  • There is 152cm at the side of the toilet. There is 100cm in front of the toilet. The bathrooms have handrails (please note that not all accessible toilets are configured the same).
  • Direction of transfer differs dependent on location/floor washroom is located.
  • Toilet height is 48cm with handrails 70cm from floor.

  • From the main entrance to the dining area, there is level access. To get to a table, there are no steps.
  • No music is played in our dining area.
  • Counters are suitable for wheelchair height.
  • We provide easily accessible allergen information, please ask your server.
  • We cater for a range of dietary requirements, for example gluten free and vegan.

  • The fire alarm does not have flashing lights, unless in the lower deck car park.
  • We have a hearing loop in the dining area and at reception.
  • Portable Induction Loops may be booked out at Reception and used anywhere within the building.
  • There are loop systems in Training Room 1 and the Boardroom.

  • Glass doors and full-height windows have contrast markings.
  • The walls and the doors do not have high colour contrast (all doors are wood effect veneer with stainless steel push plates and foot plates).
  • Low lighting is not standard.

  • Designated quiet rooms located on the ground floor (identified signage).
  • Light brightness cannot be adjusted in rooms.
  • Spaces without patterned wall and floor surfaces.
  • Partial patterned carpeted floors within Ground Floor meeting rooms and upper floor offices, meeting rooms are lightly patterned, with a feature wall. Feature wall in bright contrast colour installed to front and rear of each open plan office.

  • Hot desking (need prior notice to accommodate different working positions/heights)
  • Evacuation Chairs located within each stairwell, on each floor level.

  • Provision for assistive dogs, water/feeding stations, poo bags provided,
  • Door handles are easy grip and accessible.
  • Access controlled green door release buttons accessible on stairwells and restricted offices (Office is closed between 17.30PM - 07.30Am, automatic main doors are locked down, press to exit button is not DDA accessible. Twenty-four x7 Security office located in main reception available to provide egress as required. Signage installed to inform colleagues of OOH exit process).
