Sage's Finance team is excited to announce the launch of the Accelerate in Finance initiative

The six-month programme is designed to support and guide underrepresented female and non-binary colleagues in finance roles.

Newcastle, UK; March 8 – Sage's Finance team is excited to announce the launch of the Accelerate in Finance initiative, a six-month programme designed to support and guide underrepresented female and non-binary colleagues in finance roles. The initiative aims to provide participants with concrete tools and knowledge, and a supportive network of peers to build their skills, boost their confidence, and advance their career at Sage.

The programme is the result of extensive internal and external research  which shows that there is imbalance in the number of junior and senior roles held by women and non-binary colleagues, which is impacting the talent pipeline available for senior leader roles.. It includes monthly interactive sessions with internal and external speakers, on topics including developing personal brand, networking and emotional resilience.

Jacqui Cartin, EVP Group Financial Controller at Sage, on the Accelerate in Finance initiative: "As a leader in the finance industry, it's our responsibility to cultivate diverse and inclusive talent in our teams. We're thrilled to launch the Accelerate in Finance initiative, which is a significant step towards bridging the representation gap for women and non-binary individuals in mid to senior-level roles. This programme will help provide a supportive network and the tools necessary to empower our colleagues and accelerate their careers. We're excited to see the positive impact this programme will have on our team, and we encourage all eligible colleagues to apply."

The pilot programme will begin with around 20 female and non-binary colleagues based in Newcastle, with the aim of bridging the gap between male and female representation in mid to senior roles. The initiative has been sponsored by Jacqui and Fiona O’Donnell,  Sage’s Finance Operations Director, with support from influential female leaders across the business and subject matter experts from all areas.

The Sage Foundation has also been brought on board to include ways of giving, and the DEI team will be involved at every step of the way to make the function more inclusive. Sage is committed to providing a more inclusive and supportive work environment for all colleagues, and the Accelerate in Finance initiative is an important step towards that goal.

The initiative has received an overwhelmingly positive response from both internal and external stakeholders, and Sage Finance team is looking forward to seeing the  impact the programme will have on its participants and the wider Finance industry.
