What is a vertical market?

Also known as a ‘vertical’, a vertical market is where businesses cater to the needs of one specific industry.

For example, a software company specialising in manufacturing as a vertical will target products catering for manufacturing customers.

Other examples of vertical markets include chemicals, construction, food and beverage, and wholesale distribution.
