Sage and Sovos join forces to simplify e-invoicing and take the stress out of compliance for SMBs

Strategic partnership embeds intelligent automation, e-invoicing and tax compliance directly into Sage products, helping SMBs to reduce cost, lower risk, and accelerate cash flow.

Barcelona, 4 November 2025 - Sage, the leader in accounting, financial, HR and payroll technology for small and mid-sized businesses, today announced at its flagship Sage Future for Partners event a strategic partnership with Sovos to transform tax compliance for SMBs globally. The alliance will initially focus on embedding Sovos’ trusted, e-invoicing solution directly into Sage business applications.

E-invoicing is reshaping how businesses trade and report everywhere. By combining Sovos’ global compliance expertise with Sage’s trusted, AI-powered platform, the collaboration will help SMBs digitise invoicing, automate tax reporting, and stay ahead of new regulations with less manual effort and lower risk. Together, Sage and Sovos are reducing the time businesses spend on reporting while improving accuracy and audit readiness. Every capability is designed to be transparent, compliant, and aligned with Sage’s responsible data and AI standards.

“Regulation is becoming more complex every year, and SMBs shouldn’t have to navigate it alone,” said Walid Abu-Hadba, Chief Product Officer, Sage. “By collaborating with Sovos, we’re embedding trusted, intelligent automation directly into Sage solutions, making e-invoicing and compliance simpler, faster, and more reliable. It’s another step in building agentic systems that act on behalf of customers to reduce cost, improve accuracy, and strengthen trust.”

Key benefits for SMBs

  • Reduced cost of compliance: Automated e-invoicing and reporting workflows cut manual effort and minimise errors.
  • Faster billing and payment cycles: Real-time validation and digital invoice exchange improve payment reliability and cash flow.
  • Lower risk exposure: Built-in regulatory updates reduce the likelihood of penalties and business disruptions
  • Trusted transparency: Secure, auditable data exchange protects against fraud and strengthens trust across supply chains.
  • Seamless cross-border compliance: Built-in access to global tax and reporting frameworks helps businesses overcome compliance barriers and trade seamlessly across borders.

Through the Sage Platform, Sovos technology will be integrated via secure APIs and white-label services to automate e-invoicing, and related tax-compliance processes. These capabilities are fully embedded within Sage products, creating a consistent, seamless experience that businesses can trust, and which helps businesses meet country-specific mandates as they evolve across the world.

“The uncertainty and complexity stemming from compliance have become a significant burden for SMBs to navigate - one that can only be effectively addressed through comprehensive, AI-driven technology solutions that touch all areas of the business,” said Kevin Akeroyd, CEO, Sovos. “Through the Sage platform, Sovos technology will be integrated via secure APIs to automate e-invoicing - helping businesses meet evolving, country-specific mandates across the world.”
