Sage and Satago expand partnership to unlock invoice finance and cashflow tools for SMBs with embedded accounting

Embedding Sage’s accounting technology into Satago’s cashflow management platform will give lenders greater confidence in their decisions and help sole traders and micro businesses access funding, manage cashflow and reduce late payment pressure.

London, 1 July 2026Sage, the leader in accounting, financial, HR and payroll technology for SMBs, today announced the next evolution of its partnership with Satago, a leading fintech platform and invoice finance partner across Sage’s product ecosystem.

Together, the companies are helping banks and lenders extend invoice finance to previously underserved segments of the SMB market, including sole traders and micro businesses, while giving those businesses practical tools to manage cashflow, monitor customer risk and reduce the impact of late payments.

Building on their existing relationship, Satago will embed Sage’s accounting technology into its invoice finance platform, giving banks and lenders access to structured, real-time financial data for smaller businesses where that has historically been hard to obtain.

By combining Satago’s proven invoice finance capabilities with Sage’s embedded accounting technology, the partnership removes key barriers that have made lending to the smallest businesses difficult to scale. Alongside Satago’s existing integrations across Sage’s portfolio, this strengthens their joint role in supporting invoice finance across the SMB ecosystem, helping banks and lenders serve a broader range of SMBs with greater confidence

Helping banks and lenders expand invoice finance with greater confidence

Invoice finance has traditionally been difficult to extend to the smallest businesses due to limited financial visibility, fragmented processes, and the cost and complexity of underwriting smaller firms.

Through the partnership, invoices and transactions are created and recorded in a consistent, structured way, giving lenders clearer insight into financial performance and cashflow. With access to structured ledger data and real-time financial insights, banks and lenders can make more confident lending decisions, assess risk more accurately, and support stronger, more finance-ready businesses.

The integrated experience also helps simplify onboarding and real-time monitoring, reducing manual processes and enabling lenders to serve sole traders and micro businesses more efficiently.

For businesses, invoices, payments and key financial information are managed within the Satago platform, powered by Sage, bringing together invoicing, financial reporting, accountant collaboration and cashflow management tools in one place. This reduces administrative burden, makes it easier to demonstrate financial health and creates a more straightforward path to funding.

Gordon Stuart, SVP, Embedded Services, Sage said:

“Embedded services are changing how financial products are delivered, making them more accessible, contextual, and scalable. Through our partnership with Satago, we’re helping banks and lenders unlock a new invoice finance segment by providing the structured financial data needed to serve sole traders and micro businesses with greater confidence.

“At the same time, we’re helping smaller businesses access funding more easily by giving them the financial foundations, visibility and tools they need to apply with confidence and improve their chances of approval.”

Sinéad McHale, CEO, Satago said:

“Our partnership with Sage represents an important step forward in making invoice finance and cashflow management tools more inclusive and easier to access. By combining Satago’s platform with Sage’s embedded accounting, we’re creating a more connected experience for both lenders and small businesses.

This enables banks and lenders to serve a broader segment of the market, while giving sole traders and micro businesses faster, more straightforward access to funding — without the complexity that has traditionally held them back. At the same time, Satago gives businesses of all sizes greater visibility and control over their cashflow, helping them manage with confidence.”

Notes to editors

Sage and Satago have expanded their partnership by embedding Sage's accounting technology into Satago's invoice finance platform. This will help banks and lenders access structured financial data and extend invoice finance to more sole traders and micro businesses.

Many smaller businesses struggle to access funding because lenders often lack sufficient financial visibility to assess risk efficiently. The partnership helps address this challenge by providing access to structured, real-time financial data.

Sage's accounting technology is directly embedded into Satago's platform, enabling invoices, transactions and financial information to be captured in a consistent format. This gives lenders greater confidence when assessing applications and monitoring performance.

A form of short term borrowing that enables small businesses to unlock cash tied up in unpaid invoices.

The solution provides access to structured ledger data and real-time financial insights, helping lenders assess risk more accurately, streamline onboarding processes and serve smaller businesses more efficiently.

Businesses gain access to invoicing, financial reporting, cashflow management and funding tools through the Satago platform, making it easier to manage finances and demonstrate financial health when applying for funding.

The partnership is particularly focused on supporting sole traders and micro businesses, which have historically faced barriers to accessing invoice finance and other funding solutions.
