Atlanta, March 1, 2023 – Sage, the leader in accounting, financial, HR and payroll technology for small and mid-sized businesses, today announced the U.S. and UKI launch of season 3 of Member Masterclass, its industry-leading series of talks and articles for customers. This new season, produced in partnership with The DO Lectures, shows small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that embracing sustainability can be fundamental to their survival and growth in challenging times. This new season follows two previous ones, which focused on finding and keeping great people and unlocking productivity.
Sage’s SME Climate Impact Report shows that these businesses recognize that sustainability is an important strategy for resilience, but most of them feel stymied by factors like cash flow or lack of access to tools and knowledge to manage their environmental footprint. This latest season of Member Masterclass shows Sage customers what actions they can take to overcome some of these challenges and bake sustainability into both their long-term business strategy and day-to-day operations.
The series of talks and articles features advice from renowned sustainability experts including Kelli Fairbrother, co-founder and CEO of xigxag; Jon Khoo, Head of Sustainability at Interface; Mike Berners-Lee, academic and founder of Small World Consulting; and Malaika Vaz, CEO of Untamed Planet. It will address key sustainable business topics, from showing customers why doing good is good for the bottom line, to giving them actionable advice on becoming carbon-neutral.
“Our past research shows that only 36% of SMEs have communicated a net-zero target, and we want to help get that number up to 100%. This Member Masterclass season is one way we’re offering meaningful support to customers beyond our products,” said Elisa Moscolin, Executive Vice President of Sustainability and Society at Sage. “Our hope is that this world-class content offers our customers a valuable starting point -- and an encouraging community -- as they start to build green and resilient businesses.”
Jon Khoo, Head of Sustainability at Interface said: “In business today, we are getting much better at ‘doing less bad’, but that’s not going to be enough. We need to find ways to be restorative – to do more good than not. As an SMB, it can be difficult to know where to start, but whatever their product or service, SMB leaders need to know they can make a difference and grow their business at the same time.”
Sage has previously pledged to fight climate change and help protect the planet by halving its own emissions by 2030 and becoming net zero by 2040, while also supporting SMBs in their ambition to get to net zero. Additionally, the company advocates for policy and regulatory frameworks to support the transition to a low carbon economy.
