Top cricket ball manufacturer puts a new spin on global integration with Sage X3

Kookaburra - Australia

Melbourne based Kookaburra has 160 employees producing around 700,000 balls a year. Available in 50 countries, they are particularly popular in Australia, India, and the U.K.

Separate platforms, manual and siloed working

With operations in Australia, New Zealand, India, and U.K., each used its own separate business management platform that were outdated and overdue for renewal. This siloed way of working caused time-wasting duplication of effort leading to business inefficiency.

Somebody would do something here in Australia and then somebody would do the same thing in the U.K., then the same thing in New Zealand, and the same thing in India.

A single multi-country, multi-currency solution

Kookaburra needed a platform capable of consolidating its four different platforms into a single, integrated solution that could accommodate the complexity of four different borders and currencies. That also meant hosting data in the cloud so that international operations could communicate data like inventory in real-time. Working with Sage partner CitySoft Consulting, it chose Sage X3.

It was important to have a solution that could handle multi-currencies in multi-countries. We can now do that, and we have also achieved putting data in the cloud.

A single source of truth and new opportunities

Kookaburra CFO Damian Burke says X3 has enabled the company to consolidate its fragmented systems into a single source of truth, vastly improving efficiency. These new efficiencies have opened the door to new growth opportunities as well. Kookaburra recently merged with Australian Rules football maker Burley Sekem, strengthening its position in the sporting goods industry.

Looking at some of our bigger orders, just the processing and paperwork was taking up to 120 minutes. Now working with Sage X3, it takes them five, six minutes—even quicker than that.
