After signing up for Sage for Accountants, talk to a practice success manager. Specify how long the term of the agreement is - 12 or 24 months and decide how many Accounting subscriptions you want to purchase over that time.

Plans and pricing FAQs for accountants

Only using free tools and support? If you’ve signed up to Sage for Accountants and are using the free support and tools that come with the platform, you won’t be charged.

You will only have to start paying after you add tools, like Sage Accounting and Payroll, which come at a cost. 

We securely store your billing details so that if you decide to purchase subscriptions to add to your platform at any time, it’s quick and easy. If you choose not to purchase any subscriptions, you won’t be charged.  

All 3 packages, Start, Standard, and Plus, give you key features that are needed to manage bookkeeping for your clients. Choose which plan is right for your clients, based on the type of business they run.  

Accounting Start: Ideal for your clients that are just starting out with their new business, sole traders, and micro businesses.

Accounting Standard: Perfect for clients that run a small business. It offers everything Start offers, plus more advanced features.  

Accounting Plus: Offers all of the Standard features plus support for multiple currencies and inventory management.  

Sage Points is how Sage calculates how much discount to give you. Each subscription you add gives you Points. You get Sage Points whether you buy one client subscription at a time or use the VPA. With a VPA, all of the Sage Points for the subscriptions you agree to buy are awarded to you from the start - meaning you can access your volume discount immediately, rather than having to build up your Points over time when buying one client subscription at a time.
It is a pricing agreement that gives you the best discount for committing to buy a volume of subscriptions. You can let us know how many subscriptions of Accounting you want to buy and over how long (12 or 24 months) then get a discount up front from the very first subscription. And you only pay when you activate each client.

If you intend to buy several Sage Accounting client subscriptions, a Volume Purchase Agreement (VPA) is a great way to unlock additional discounts from day one. VPA is the alternative to buying one client subscription at a time and gives you the best price.

Sage gives accountants discounts for buying more subscriptions for their clients. You get Sage Points whether you buy one client subscription at a time or use the VPA but with the VPA you get the points and the discount from the very first subscription and get a better discount.
You choose how many subscriptions you would like to buy and over what period, you sign the agreement and activate the subscriptions for your clients as you need them.

For example, Samantha is an accountant. She decides that with the type of clients she has she will need 10 subscriptions of Sage Accounting Start, 10 of Standard and 10 of Plus over the next 24 months. She signs a Volume Purchase Agreement with Sage. Sage gives her the discount she has earned for committing to buy 30 subscriptions and the Points for all 30 subscriptions are applied from day one. She gets her discount from the very first subscription she activates. By planning ahead Samantha has been able get all her Points at the start to maximise the discount she receives from Sage.

With this example we can also show you how to calculate your discount:

Samantha is an accountant. She decides she will need 10 subscriptions of Sage Accounting Start, 10 of Standard and 10 of Plus over the next 24 months. She signs a Volume Purchase Agreement with Sage.

Each Accounting Start subscription earns Samantha 5 Points. Each Accounting Standard subscription earns Samantha 10 Points. Each Accounting Plus subscription earns Samantha 10 Points.

Samantha gets 50 Sage Points for her 10 Start subscriptions, 100 Points for her 10 Standard and 100 Points for her 10 Plus, giving her 250 Points. This gives her 15% off. She receives this full 15% discount from the very first subscription she activates
Volume Purchase Agreement billing follows the general subscription billing. The day you sign up for Sage for Accountants, SFA, will be your billing date. Each time you add a subscription, your billing will be updated with the level of discount corresponding to the total commit volume.

What happens if I want to change the period or the quantities in my VPA?

You can extend the duration of your VPA to keep your discount level and you increase or decrease the subscription commit to suit your and your clients’ needs. The discount level will automatically be adjusted accordingly.
