Glossary definition

What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing is the delivery of computing and information technology services over the Internet (“the cloud”), instead of through a direct connection to a server.

Cloud computing offers faster innovation, flexible resources and economies of scale. You typically only pay for cloud services you use, helping lower your operating costs, run your infrastructure more efficiently and scale as your business needs change.
