Glossary definition

What is a distributed control system (DCS)?

A distributed control system (DCS), is a type of real time control system that is used to control a physical process such as blending, evaporation, filling, etc. The “distributed” part of the definition of a DCS is that logic control is distributed throughout the systems’ architecture so that it is less susceptible to single points of failure.
