What is a broker?

In the food and beverage industry, there are several uses for the term broker.

A sales broker is a third party between a buyer and seller that assists with finding product, negotiated pricing and more.

On the supply side for a manufacturer, a broker helps source raw materials, and on the sales side, a broker represents a manufacturer to a prospective customer or even whole sales channel.

An import or export broker is a third party between a buyer and seller to assist with import/export details, such as documentation, taxes and fees, local jurisdiction details, port activities, transportation and more.
