IslandWood journeys into financial ease with Sage Intacct

Outdoor environmental learning center keeps up with increasing complexity without additional headcount thanks to Sage Intacct

With expansion comes complexity

After years of growth, IslandWood decided to shift its business systems to 100% cloud-based software to handle its ongoing expansion. With a heavy reliance on Excel and a hodgepodge of different systems that it manually merged together each month, the organization wasn’t able to monitor its income streams, expenses, or cash balances in real time.

We chose Sage Intacct because it delivered everything we needed to efficiently run our organization in a reliable, easy to access, web-based solution.

Eliminating over 360 manual person-hours annually

Since implementing Sage Intacct, IslandWood has significantly increased its day-to-day productivity thanks to automating many of the organization’s financial processes. The finance team has reduced the time to consolidate and close the books by at least two days each month and overall estimate a saving of 360 people-hours a year thanks to streamlining processes.

If we didn’t have Sage Intacct, we would have needed at least another half-time resource at around $15,000 per year–not an insignificant cost for a nonprofit like us.

Gaining greater visibility across all aspects of the organization

IslandWood’s greatest benefit from moving to Sage Intacct has been its radically improved financial and operational visibility. Using the pre-built library of reports, the nonprofit can create custom reports that highlight key operational metrics, and the finance team can now slice and dice its financial data however it wants.

I use custom reports in Sage Intacct to give our CEO and senior VPs a real-time view of our financial data, from high-level summaries to individual contributions.
