Tech for Good

We support SMBs and communities through our trusted and thriving Sage Network.

As a leader in accounting, financial, HR and payroll technologies for SMBs, we have an opportunity to unlock innovation potential for societal good.

We unlock the potential of AI for our customers with the peace of mind that ethics, privacy and security are at the forefront of our product development. Upholding the highest standards of AI and data ethics means building security into our products from the outset. It also means making sure we collect and use data in a way that is fair and transparent.

Through Sage Foundation, we will increase access and inclusion to entrepreneurship, actively seeking partnerships that increase our ability to make an impact.

Breaking down the barriers to digital equality

In today’s world, access to opportunities is not always equal. At Sage, our purpose is to knock down barriers so everyone can thrive, starting with the millions of SMBs served by our network and extending to wider communities through the work of Sage Foundation.

AI and data ethics

We unlock the potential of AI for our customers with the peace of mind that ethics, privacy and security are at the forefront of our product development.

By using AI and data insights, we can highlight the barriers that are holding back SMBs. The combination of digitalisation and authentication within the Sage Network offers a new model for data ownership – giving individuals visibility, control and insights. We are embedding ethics into Sage product development life cycles, ensuring ethical considerations are integral to the process.

Empowering people through Data for Good

Data empowers small businesses, governments and individuals to make smart decisions. Trusted third parties help ensure safe and controlled data use. This involves supporting small businesses, tackling growth challenges and offering accessible, reliable data.

Keeping customers safe

We have a global security team dedicated to ensuring that our customers' data are kept secure and protected. Our protective measures are based on recognised industry best practices and are continually under review to keep pace with the changing nature of the technological environment.

Shedding light on late payments

Sage has partnered with Smart Data Foundry, a mission-led organisation that unlocks the power of financial data, and the UK government's Office of the Small Business Commissioner, to review anonymised data over a decade to understand how to tackle the issue of late payments amongst Micro and Small businesses. Find out more about the results.

Making technology accessible to all

Web content accessibility remains an industry challenge. With products and software evolving all the time, accessibility checks need to follow suit. We’ve introduced several measures to pre-empt accessibility needs in version updates. These include adding accessibility criteria into Sage product design guidelines, colleague training, and accountability structures.

More than 350 developers undertook accessibility training in FY24, with 121 further colleagues accessing video learning.

Building a generation of tech talent

Through our partnerships, we will scale our skills programmes with a focus on regional investment, aiming to involve 10 000 students in the 2025 FIRST® LEGO® League in the UK and 4 000 students via Teens in AI in the next 2 years.

A future in tech for teens

Sage Foundation has partnered with The Institution for Engineering and Technology (IET) to extend the FIRST® LEGO® League in the UK and Ireland through a programme that challenges young people aged 4–16 to build robots and create innovative projects using LEGO® bricks and components.
